English term

\'active from safety on\' alarms

English to French Tech/Engineering Automotive / Cars & Trucks Modules de démarrage moteur
If the alarm condition remains, it is not possible to reset the unit (The exception to this is the Low Oil Pressure alarm and similar 'active from safety on' alarms, as the oil pressure is low with the engine at rest).

Oohhhhhhhi..... !!!!!
Tony M Feb 7, 2018:
@ Asker While I am convinced that my interpretation is somewhere along the right lines (in the absence of more of your wider context, which would undoubtedly help!) — but I really don't see this reflected at all in Abel's suggestion?
Tony M Feb 7, 2018:
@ Abel Yes, we do talk about 'positive security' in EN too... but that's nothing to do with what is being discussed here.
HERBET Abel Feb 7, 2018:
We say also
........
à sécurité positive
Marilyn D. (asker) Feb 7, 2018:
@ Tony Yes, it is still the same document. And Yes, I think Abel and you are right and "Alarmes actives à sécurité enclenchée" seems appropriate. Thank you all !

This is What i say
Tony M Feb 7, 2018:
@ Asker My understanding of this term would be as follows; does this correcpond with your own?

An alarm that is present immediately when a 'safety on' takes place.

By 'safety on', I think this is referring to an 'on condition' (presumably motor start?) arising for safety reasons. Is this still your document about an emergency genset?

disagree Tony M : But this is nothing to do with 'safety' being 'latched': it misses the 'on' aspect of 'safety on', which IMHO is the key part of it.

English term (edited): 'active from safety on' alarm

alarme activée lors d'un "démarrage de sécurité"

Of course, what the 'on' is depends entirely on the missing context, so 'démarrage' is just one suggestion — hence to be adapted according to the context; but it seems as if this may be refering to motor starting?
