Bonjour à tous,

Savez-vous à quoi correspond cet article ? https://www.amazon.fr/Coffre-Intérieur-Joint-Febest-0115-gsx...

Je cale complètement sur ce "Boot Inner"

"Kit Joint Cv de Soufflet Intérieur 84 x 85 x 26,5 cm" ?

Merci

Merci pour ces précisions Tony. Et merci Gilou pour votre proposition également.
Tony M Dec 12, 2018:
@ Asker No, the 'inner' and 'outer' CV joints normally use different sized boots, so it MUST be specified!
I would be wary of using 'joints' as you mention — these 'boots' are to a certain extent joints in themselves, but here the 'joint' being referred to is the 'cardan', so you mustn't add another 'joint' (with the sense of 'seal'). The boots do not usually have additional seals, and to suggest they did would amount to over-translation in your particular case.
Willa95 (asker) Dec 12, 2018:

Tony M Dec 12, 2018:
@ Asker PARSING It's because you're parsing it wrongly!

This is a 'kit' for the 'boot' on an 'inner CV joint' — i.e. 'inner' belongs with 'CV joint' not 'boot'

Joint here is in the sense of articulation, not seal 3 and I think 'CV joint' is a 'cardan'

The only thing odd about this is the word order in EN — normally, I'd expect to buy an "Inner CV Joint Boot Kit". Without more context, it's hard to tell if there is any singificance to this unsual word order, which is not unlike some list word orders traditionally used in the Forces. It might simply need to be intepreted as "Boot: Inner CV Joint Kit" — i.e. the whole kit required for changing the boot in the inner CV joint. But other interpretations might also be possible...

I would imagine, following your own terminology, that it would be: "Kit de soufflet pour cardan intérieur" — though I'm not sure in FR if we actually talk about 'inner / outer' in the same way in relation to cardans; it might be something more like 'côté moteur / côté roue'

"Cv Joint Boot
Constant Velocity Joint Boot Replacement.
Question: What is constant velocity joint boot replacement?
Answer: Constant velocity, or CV, joint boots cover and protect a very important part of your vehicle’s driveshaft, your CV joint. Before we get into what the boot does, let’s discuss what a CV joint really is. CV joints are used to connect your vehicle’s transmission to your wheels. They are part of the driveshaft and are used primarily on front-wheel drive vehicles, but they are also used in rear- and four-wheel drive vehicles. Each drive wheel has two CV joints: the inner joint connects the transmission to the axle and the outer joint connects the axle to the wheel.

agree Tony M : Though I think that in the familair register where we use 'boot', 'cardan' alone is more common and sufficient in context.
